Where to go near Kurashiki

Okayama

Train 15min

Home to Korakuen, one of Japan's Top 3 gardens, the Kibi Trail, a variety of museums, and the legendary Momotaro folklore. Also the main transfer hub for reaching Kurashiki by Shinkansen.

Fukuyama

Known for Fukuyama Castle and a variety of interesting museums, making it a great day trip from Kurashiki.

Takahashi

A castle town featuring Bitchu Matsuyama Castle, one of Japan's only remaining original castles and the highest castle in the country.

Tsuyama

Home of Kakuzan Park, Okayama's best spot for cherry blossom viewing in spring, along with the beautiful Shurakuen Garden and historic Joto Street.

Soja

Features Hofukuji Temple, a Zen temple where the poet and priest Sesshu once lived, and the other half of the scenic Kibi Trail.

A worthwhile day trip destination outside of Okayama Prefecture, accessible via the Seto Ohashi Bridge visible from Kurashiki's Kojima area.
